Obituary of Frank Joseph Metz

Frank Joseph Metz, beloved husband of Joan of Calgary, passed away on Wednesday, February 11, 2009 at the age of 89 years, with his wife and his children at his side. Frank was born in Rastadt, in southwest Saskatchewan. After the death of his father when Frank was seventeen, he ran the family farm to help support his mother and seven sisters. He then ran a hotel in Richmound, SK before marrying Joan and moving to Calgary to establish a business and raise four children. Frank will be fondly remembered for his kind nature and sense of humour. Frank is survived by his wife Joan; his children, Luanne, John (Cherry), Kevin, and Mary (Peter); and grandchildren, Brielle, Michael and Kurtis Metz, and Adam and Kate Ruether. He is also survived by four sisters, Ann Hayes, Rose MacPhail, Elsie Stein, and Dorothy Exelby. He was predeceased by his parents and three sisters. A Celebration of Frank’s Life will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY’S Chapel of the Bells (2720 Centre Street North) on Saturday, February 21, 2009 at 2:30 p.m. Forward condolences through www.mcinnisandholloway.com.
