Obituary of Cecil Parish

“And in the end, it’s not the years in your life that count. It’s the life in your years” – Abraham Lincoln After an inspiring battle with cancer, Cece peacefully passed away at the Peter Lougheed Hospital, on Sunday, February 8, 2009. at the age of 62 years His life journey here was completed with his family by his side. Cece was born in Winnipeg, Manitoba. He was the second oldest of five children. Growing up in such a large and loving family attributed to his love of family, friends, and people in general. Cece attended St. Paul’s High School where he excelled in sports. His natural talent, passion, leadership skills, and work ethic allowed him to suceed not only in sport, but in his personal and professional life. These attributes carried through in his success with his business Millen Durnin Parrish. He thrived on his relationships with people, and he could sell anything to anyone. The bottom line was that people just adored him. He was always honest, loyal, dependable, and told it like it was. Cece was always easy to find. If he wasn’t working, he was at the golf course. He was a tenacious and fierce competitor who was always willing to roll the dice, and put his game on the line. He was an outstanding player all around, but his suspect putting often “animated” his competitive spirit. He always had bets rolling on every hole, and laughed about the results with friends in the Clubhouse over an abundance of wine and food. Cece loved celebration and was an ENTERTAINER. There is nothing that he enjoyed more than having people over for a meal. Numbers didn’t matter. Everyone was always welcome, and treated like royalty. It was a guarantee that the game was always on, no matter what the sport, and Cece and his friends always had something riding on it. Cecil willl be dearly missed by his mother Margaret Parrish; sisters Joanna Moore, Wendy Smeaton, and Jeanne Parrish; and his brother Dan Parrish. Also, his extended family meant a lot to him – nieces, nephews, and their families. He also leaves behind his two beloved children; Andrea Parrish, and Michael Parrish. Cecil was predeceased by his father Cecil Parrish, and his life partner Audrey Peitch.
