Obituary of Donald Alexander Beddoes

It is with deep sorrow and sadness we announce the passing of Don Beddoes beloved husband of Irene Beddoes of Crossfield, on Tuesday, February 3, 2009 at the age of 77 years. Don was born and raised on the family farm near Madden, AB. He moved to Calgary in 1948 to attend Tech (SAIT) and graduated with a welding certificate. Soon after he purchased a gravel truck and began his road construction company “Don Beddoes Construction Ltd.” later changing to “DBC Contractors Ltd.”. In 1962, Don and Irene moved to the farm east of Crossfield to follow Don’s dream of farming. His passions were his business, his farm, rodeos, auction sales and he enjoyed golf, fishing and spending winters in Phoenix. Don was a very generous man with a big heart and a mentor to many. He will be remembered for his sense of humour, his stories and bantering with his friends at coffee time. Besides his loving wife of forty-nine years Irene, Don is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law Marj and Earl Sutherland and Marlene and Peter Cox; five grandchildren Drew, Alix and Jaye Sutherland, Emily and Michelle Cox; sister Mary Kneeshaw and brother and sister-in-law Jack and Darlene Beddoes. Don was predeceased by infant son Gordon in 1969; parents Leonard and Irene Beddoes and brother-in-law Stan Kneeshaw. A Celebration of Don’s Life will be held at Crossfield Community Hall (900 Mountain Avenue, Crossfield, Alberta) on Monday, February 9, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. Forward condolences through www.mcinnisandholloway.com.
