Obituary of Lorraine Weich

Lorraine Weich (nee Benson), beloved mother to Robert Weich and wife to the late Walter Roudolph Weich, passed away Sunday, January 25, 2009 at the age of 89 years. Left to mourn her passing is her only son Robert and his wife Jeanne Weich of Calgary; her granddaughters, Lori (Paul), Shannon (Doug) and Julie (Chris); and great grandchildren, MacKenzie, Zachary, Bella, Jackson, Emma, Colton, Abbey, and Haylee. Lorraine had two passions, her family and education. She was a past graduate of the University of Calgary and the University of Alberta, earning three University degrees including her Masters in Mathematics. She was a devoted teacher for more than twenty-seven years, teaching programs such as Math and Art in the Calgary School district at Bowness High School and Sir Winston Churchill. During times in her long career she also acted as a principal in some of the many schools she worked in prior to coming to Calgary. She will be remembered as a passionate advocate for quality education, an excellent and gifted teacher, a loving grandmother, a devoted mother and a proud great-grandmother. In accordance with Lorraine’s wishes a private service was held on Monday, February 2, 2009 at the Chapel of the Bells in Calgary. Graveside Service followed at Mountain View Memorial Gardens.
