Obituary of Phyllis Blundun

Phyllis Blundun of Calgary passed away peacefully on Tuesday, January 27, 2009 at the age of 98 years. Phyllis was born in Sedley, SK, and grew up on a farm near Manor, SK. Phyllis had a short career as a school teacher at the Indian Residential School in Balcarras, SK. before her marriage in 1932 to George, a fellow school teacher. The couple lived in Saskatoon where George took university courses, and in teacherages in south-eastern Saskatchewan towns, where he was the principle of various country schools. The couple came to Calgary with the RCAF in 1940. Blundy entered the oil business after the war and was also extensively involved in the local and international figure skating community. Phyllis has lived in Calgary since 1947, residing at the Renoir for ten years before moving to the Bethany Care Centre in 1999. Her belief in God sustained her through a life-long battle with poor health, and enabled her to carry on alone with dignity and courage. Phyllis is survived by her daughter Beverley Turner (Frank) of Calgary, and her son Jerry, who has lived for many years in London, England. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Carrie and Charles, as well as one great-granddaughter Amelia. Phyllis was predeceased by her husband George (Blundy) in May of 1988 and her two sisters, Marjorie in 1990 and Mary in 2000. Forward condolences through www.mcinnisandholloway.com.
