Obituary of Doris May Tippett

Doris May Tippett passed away at the Southwood Hospice on Thursday, January 22, 2009 at the age of 90 years. Doris was born on June 6, 1918 in Macklin, SK. She attended Balmoral School and Crescent Heights School in Calgary with her sisters, Ruth and Edith and her brother Warren. During the war, she met Steve Tippett, while he was pilot training in Calgary, and following the war, she married Steve in Australia in 1947. Returning to Calgary in 1950, Steve and Doris raised two sons, Kevin and Warren, while working in Accounting for the oil and gas industry and volunteering at the Foothills Hospital, as well as other charities. Doris and Steve spent many years enjoying their leisure time at the Calgary Winter Club, Canyon Meadows Golf Club and as members of the Gyro Club. Doris is survived by her two sons and daughters-in-law, Kevin and Cathy and Warren and Jay of Calgary; and is lovingly remembered by her five grandchildren, Colin, Sean, Erik, Alison, and Julia. Doris was predeceased by her husband Stephen in August 2003, brother Warren and sister Ruth of Calgary.
