Obituary of Mickey Fildes

The New Year began sadly for many of us with the loss of a dear friend and sister, Mickey Fildes. Mickey passed away peacefully at home on Thursday, January 1, 2009 at the age of 75 years. Mickey was born in the Zahara family home in Prestville, AB on February 12, 1933. Most of her adult life was spent in Calgary where she enjoyed the company of a wide and diverse circle of friends, many of whom considered her family. Mickey’s strong character and admirable social graces served her well throughout her life. Whether on the golf course, in the garden, at the theatre, bowling, curling, skiing, engaged in conversation, enjoying “a wee dram”, or seated at the bridge table, Mickey’s character never failed to shine. During her life she faced challenges, of which there were many, with grit and determination. Her sparkling smile, sharp mind, straight forward attitude and fierce loyalty for those she knew and loved will be missed and always cherished. A Celebration of Mickey’s Life will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY’S Park Memorial Chapel (5008 Elbow Drive S.W.) on Wednesday, January 28, 2009 at 10:30 a.m. Forward condolences through www.mcinnisandholloway.com.
