John Steward

Obituary of John Steward

John Steward, beloved husband of Margaret, passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday, January 20, 2009 at the age of 72 years. John was born in Chester-le-Street, Co. Durham, England. His work as a mining engineer brought the family to Grande Cache in 1969, then to Calgary, Bogota, Colombia, and back to Calgary again. He was the man who knew how things worked and why, the one to go to for advice and encouragement and he never refused a request for help. His lovely smile, wicked sense of humour, quiet courage and warm presence will be sorely missed. John will be lovingly remembered by his wife of forty four years, Margaret; daughters, Alison and Lesley (Aboli); grandchildren, Yann and Mariana; as well as many relatives and friends. Mine is the strength of spirit, strong and free, like a great river rushing on alone. A Celebration of John’s Life will be held at Foothills Alliance Church (333 Edgepark Blvd. N.W.) on Thursday, January 29, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. Forward condolences through www.mcinnisandholloway.com.
