Obituary of Luigi Rossi

Luigi Rossi passed away on Friday, January 16, 2009 at the age of 81 years. Luigi was born on November 2, 1927 in Scisciano, Naples, Italy. Luigi married Clorinda Serpico on January 6, 1956 and immigrated to Calgary to join their family members. Luigi worked for many years in the construction industry, and later as a custodian for the Calgary Catholic School Board, retiring at the age of 62 years. Luigi was a very devoted husband and father; he loved to be in the company of his family and friends and treasured his grandchildren. He had a smile that would light up the room and sense of humour that was immeasurable. Luigi took great pride in tending to his garden, he grew the best green peppers, as well as many other vegetables. He will be dearly missed by all his family and friends. Luigi is survived by his loving daughter and son-in-law, Annette and Luigi Sposito; son and daughter in-law, Mario and Annita Rossi; grandchildren, Rosa, Clorinda, Diana Sposito, Christina and Luigi Rossi; sisters, Gelsomina La Marca and Lucia Alfieri, all of Calgary; and sister Pasqualina Franzese and brother Carmine Rossi in Italy; as well as several nieces, nephews in Canada and Italy. He was predeceased by his wife Clorinda, two brothers and one sister. Relatives and friends are invited to Prayers and Tributes at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY’S Chapel of the Bells (2720 Centre Street North) on Wednesday, January 21, 2009 at 7:00 p.m. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Our Lady of Grace Italian and English Catholic Church (1714 – 14th Avenue N.E.) on Thursday, January 22, 2009 at 10:30 a.m. Graveside Service to follow at Queens Park Cemetery.
