Obituary of Sheryl Lynn Alsup

Glorifying her Lord and Saviour in death as well as in life, Sheryl “Sherrie” Lyles Alsup slipped peacefully into eternity on January 14, 2009. Born on August 30, 1952 in Binghamton, NY to Bud and Dottie Lyles, Sheryl Lynn Lyles was reared in a Christian home and accepted the Lord Jesus Christ as her personal Saviour as a young girl. After her graduation from Central High School, Murfreesboro, TN in 1970, Sherrie attended Bob Jones University in Greenville, SC where she graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education in 1974. She married Rod Alsup on June 14, 1974 and served the Lord as a pastor’s wife and missionary with her family in the US, Australia and Canada for over thirty years. Since 2002 Rod and Sherrie have served through Cornerstone Baptist Church of Calgary. An enthusiastic educator, Sherrie taught at Southside Christian School in Greenville, SC, in Australia as a home school teacher to her children, and as a Sunday School teacher over the years. Sherrie is survived by her parents Leslie “Bud” and Dorothy Watson Lyles of Greenville, SC; her husband Rod, of Calgary, Children; Thomas and wife Cindy of Inman, SC, Andrew and wife Wendy of Seattle, WA, Philip and wife Danielle of Clarkston, MI, Bethany and husband Andrew Hager of Rochelle, IL, Christa and husband Aaron Bryson of Simpsonville, SC; Grandchildren; Emma, Luke, Anna, Ethan, Chloe, William, Erin, and Kent Siblings Valerie and husband Gary Thompson, Buddy and wife Kaye Lyles, Jackie Lyles, and Jon and wife Shannon Lyles. Sherrie was predeceased by her brother Bob Lyles. Funeral Services will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY’S Eastside Memorial Chapel (5388 Memorial Drive N.E.) on Saturday, January 17, 2009 at 10:00am with Pastor Bud Talbert presiding.
