Obituary of Gladys Alice Rae
Gladys Alice Rae (nee MacFarlane) passed away peacefully on January 9, 2009 at the age of 91 years. Glad was born on September 11, 1917 in Nokomis, Saskatchewan. She served in the RCAF during WWII and subsequently taught school in rural Saskatchewan. She met and married the love of her life, Jim, in 1947 and they spent 50 full and wonderful years together in Manitoba, British Columbia, Quebec and Calgary, raising four children amongst the hardships of a military environment. She experienced the world in a way that was not available to many others of her generation. Her life was devoted to her family. She was a loving mother to Don (Sally), Doug, Dave (Donna) and Deb (Don); grandmother to Jim (Emma), Rob (Jolanda), Susan (Richard), Jagger, Chris, Dan, Jenna and Kaitlin; and great grandmother to Lukas, Bodie, Anders, Easton, Taylor and Allison. She is survived by her sister Hazel MacFarlane. The world would have far fewer problems were all of us able to devote our lives to our families the way Glad did. She was predeceased by her husband Jim in 1997.
