Obituary of David Richard Rentz
David Rentz, beloved husband of 39 years to Charlotte, and father to David and Paul, passed away on Thursday, January 8, 2009. David will live on in the hearts of his wife, Charlotte; sons, David (Fatima) of Vancouver, BC and Paul (Kelly) of Calgary; grandchildren, Lauren, Adam, Benjamin, Asher and Kaliana; his brother, Rev. Garwood (Marlene) Rentz of Westbank, BC; and nieces and nephews and their families. David was born in Winnipeg, MB and was baptized and confirmed at Redeemer Lutheran Church. In 1963 he graduated with a BSc – Electrical Engineering, from the University of Manitoba and began working with IBM. He moved with his family to Calgary in 1980 and became a partner with Peat, Marwick, Thorne. In 1991 he started his own successful consulting business, David R. Rentz Inc. He was a pioneer in his field and passionate about his work. David was on the Board of Regents of Concordia University College, Board of Bethany Care Society and was Treasurer for Foothills Lutheran Church. David was an avid curler, golfer, skier and enjoyed squash, but his greatest joy was his family. His family has fond memories of their annual Father’s Day Golf Tournament. Those wishing to pay their respects may do so at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY’S Crowfoot Chapel (82 Crowfoot Circle N.W.) on Wednesday, January 14, 2009 from 7:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Funeral Services will be held at Grace Lutheran Church, which David was a member of, (3610 Sarcee Road S.W.) on Thursday, January 15, 2009 at 1:00 p.m. Graveside Service to follow at Queen’s Park Cemetery.
