Obituary of Christine Margaret McGregor
Christine Margaret McGregor passed away from inflammatory breast cancer on December 31, 2008, at the age of 60 years.
Christine was born in Winnipeg, Manitoba on November 16, 1948. She was raised and educated in Winnipeg and it was there that she met her future husband, Glenn Miller. Christine and Glenn moved to Edmonton in 1972 where Christine worked in the Groundwater Branch of the Department of the Environment. In 1975 Christine and Glenn left Edmonton to settle permanently in Calgary. Christine was employed for a number of years at Co-operative Trust before eventually leaving the workforce to stay at home and raise her two boys. Christine was a devoted wife and mother and a consummate community volunteer. She was a long standing member of the Tuxedo Park Community Association and filled numerous roles within the executive including Community Association president. For many years she was the community representative for planning, development and traffic. At different times Christine was also involved with Observation Nursery, the Mount Pleasant Community Association, the Mount Pleasant Playgroup, Beavers and Cubs, the Tuxedo Park Shinny Hockey program, the Calgary Youth Justice program, the North Hill Area Redevelopment Plan and the 16th Avenue Widening Committee. After her children had grown Christine was employed by the Calgary Board of Education and, for several years, ran a successful breakfast program at Tuxedo Park School. Christine embraced life and lived it with gusto. Her enthusiasm and her interest in others led to many rewarding and enduring friendships. Her ability to live a full life in the face of her illness will be part of her legacy to her family.
Christine is survived by her husband, Glenn; her sons, Alex (Tara) and Ian; her brother Gordon (Linda) of Victoria, BC; her niece Christine; and her nephew Robert, of Ottawa and their families. Christine was predeceased by her parents.
