Obituary of Merlin Milton Johnson
Merlin Johnson, beloved husband of Doris, and beloved father of Brandi and Andrea, of Calgary, passed away on Wednesday, December 31, 2008 at the age of 59 years.
Merlin was born and raised in Drumheller, AB. After completing high school, he enlisted in the Canadian Navy, which would take him to Halifax, and later, CBC Cold Lake. After rising to the rank of Corporal, he received his Honourable Discharge and moved his family to Calgary. In Calgary, Merlin had a successful and fulfilling career with Apple Fitness as a service technician, and was a member of Apple Fitness since its beginnings. He volunteered in Track and Field for over fifteen years, obtaining his credentials as an official, which allowed him to officiate at various meets across Canada; including international calibre meets held in Alberta.
Merlin is survived by his wife, Doris; their children, Brandi and Andrea; sisters Sharon Lowry and Gail (Earl) Liddicoat; brothers, Randy (Tina), Gene (Sylvia) and Dwain (Karen). He also leaves behind his sister-in-law, Clara Johnson and numerous extended family members and friends, including his in-laws, the Bourgeois. Merlin was predeceased by his parents, Alma and Milton.
