Obituary of Marion Jessie Young

May passed away peacefully at the Bethany Care Centre on Wednesday, December 24, 2008. She was born in Winnipeg, MB on May 8, 1910 to the late Robert Taylor Anderson and Florence McNeil Anderson she grew up in Winnipeg as well as Saskatoon. Following graduation from Central Normal School, Winnipeg’s largest training school at the time, she married Andrew Young in 1937. They resided in Regina prior to moving to Calgary in 1942 and raised their family on Riverdale Avenue. May was a long time volunteer with The Red Cross as well as a strong supporter of her children and grand-children through many horse related activities including braiding many a mane and tail before a horse show. May will be sadly missed by her loving family; son Robert Young (Kathy); daughter Sandra Tidswell; seven grandchildren Tracy Thorbjornsen (Garry), Jason Young, Robin Tidswell (Bonnie), Graham Young (Melissa), Shannon Young (Tom O’Leary), Jonathon Young, Samantha Young; eight great-grandchildren Casey, Randi, Mia, Maya, Claire, Michael, Payton, and Holden; as well as by her special friend, Laura Young. May was predeceased by her husband in 1988 and her son-in-law, Howard Tidswell in 1983.
