Obituary of Jerrad Neil Landels
“Fortitudine Vincimus”
Jerrad Neil Landels beloved husband of Jamie of Calgary passed away on Thursday, December 25, 2008, after fighting a courageous battle with cancer, at the age of 35 years. Jerrad was born on August 29, 1973. He was a wonderful husband and father and loved to spend time with “his girls”. Jerrad was best known for his sense of humour and infectious smile – he was an entertainer who was the life of the party and loved to make people laugh. He was charming, outgoing, charismatic, loyal and thoughtful. Jerrad would do anything for a friend. He enjoyed his career at CGI working in marketing and recruiting. Jerrad was an avid golfer who had a knack for cooking, fishing, and softball. He radiated strength, hope, optimism and a positive attitude that is to be admired. He will be remembered most for the strength, courage and inspiration he gave to us all. He was a gracious, kind man who made an impact on everyone he met. Jerrad enjoyed participating in and was proud to contribute as a committee member of the Tom Baker Cancer Centre Golf Classic, played annually at Heritage Pointe Golf Club. Jerrad leaves behind his loving wife Jamie Read and young daughter Amelia Landels; as well as his parents Ron and Sue Landels of Calgary; his brother Jeff Landels (Jenifer); niece Hannah; his sister Jolene Roberge (Rick) and nephews Brenan and Cameron. At Jerrad’s request there will be no formal Funeral Services. A Memorial Bench will be located at the Inglewood Bird Sanctuary. Forward condolences through www.mcinnisandholloway.com. A world of thanks to Dr. Jacob Easaw, Dr. Oliver Bathe, Sally Lim and the entire team at the Tom Baker Cancer Centre for giving us two additional years of time together. Many thanks to the CGI family whose tremendous support will always be remembered and appreciated. Thank you also to the angels at the Rosedale Hospice for guiding us through the storm. In lieu of flowers if friends so desire, memorial tributes may be made directly to Amelia Landels’ Registered Education Fund at any local CIBC Bank or to the Inglewood Bird Sanctuary. In living memory of Jerrad Landels, a tree will be planted at Fish Creek Provincial Park by McINNIS & HOLLOWAY FUNERAL HOMES, Crowfoot Chapel, 82 CROWFOOT CIRCLE N.W. Telephone: (403) 241-0044.
