Obituary of Werner Schmidt

Werner Schmidt beloved husband of Lydia, of Calgary passed away on December 24, 2008 at the age of 86 years. Werner immigrated to Canada from Germany in 1956. He settled in Calgary, and worked as a finishing carpenter and builder until he retired in the late 1980s. In his retirement years, he used his artistic talents in making beautiful clocks and furniture pieces that are still cherished today. He loved to help his children with various building projects, and spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Werner is survived by his loving wife of over 62 years, Lydia; two daughters and sons-in-law Erika and W. (Bill) Schultz; Gisela and Ray Evens; grandchildren, Kevin Evens, Kari Pollock, Kristeena Schultz and Monica Schultz; great grandchildren, Bradley Pollock, Jeffrey Pollock and Joey Pollock; sisters, Vroni Seidel and Renate Rabolt both of Germany; sister-in-laws, Hilde Harwardt, Lisa Labuhn and Ilse Labuhn, as well as many nieces and nephews.
