Obituary of Arcangelo Barbaro
Angelo beloved husband of Paolina for 58 years, of Calgary passed away on December 24, 2008 at the age of 87 years.
Angelo was born in Pietrapennata, R.C., Italy on October 24, 1921. He served honourably in the Italian Army during WWII, of which a portion of that time was spent as a prisoner of war. On November 18, 1950 he married the love of his life, Paolina Nocera. Shortly after he immigrated to Canada, arriving in Calgary on December 24, 1950 and was later joined by his wife on July 12, 1951. Here they started their family and he went on to work for CP Rail.
Besides his loving wife Paolina, Angelo is survived by his sons, Peter (Linda), Al (Ngaio), Tony (Donna); grandchildren, Michelle (Kevin Dyrgas), Jeremy, Mark (Katelynn) and Colton; sisters, Francesca and Maria, both of Italy and as well as numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his son, Francesco; daughter in-law, Wendy (nee Todesco) and brothers, Pietro and Francesco.
Relatives and friends are invited to Prayers and Tributes at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY’S Chapel of the Bells (2720 Centre Street North) on Monday, December 29, 2008 at 7:30 p.m.
Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Our Lady of Grace Italian and English Catholic Church (1714 – 14th Avenue N.E.) on Tuesday, December 30, 2008 at 10:30 a.m. Graveside Service to follow at Queen’s Park Mausoleum.
