Obituary of Lillian Patricia Wiber

Lillian Patricia “Pat” Wiber of Calgary passed away on Monday, December 22, 2008 at the tender age of 95 years. She died peacefully in her sleep, knowing she had lived a full life and thankful for her many blessings. Pat will be remembered as a devoted wife, a loving mother, a dear grandmother, a treasured sister, and a special friend. Her life was spent caring for those who meant the most to her, her family. She also shared friendships with members of her Bridge and Stagette Clubs. These were cherished friendships that spanned a lifetime. In her younger years she enjoyed entertaining family and friends, playing the piano, having family sing songs, and camping and traveling with her husband. Pat was also an avid card player, an excellent baker, and loved to knit. She volunteered for Meals on Wheels, and participated in Central United Church functions. Pat neither demanded, nor required attention or lavish things. She was quite content living a simple lifestyle. Even in her last years she found it hard to ask for assistance as she was an independent and dignified woman. This was an extension of her desire to not inconvenience or be a burden to anyone. Her surviving family would like to thank her dear friends for being such wonderful companions and remaining close to her over all those years. Pat treasured each and every one of you. Pat is survived by her youngest son, Brian (Judy); their daughters, Angela (Marcus) Dunseith, Michelle (Brad) Annett, and Cherie (Tim) West; granddaughter, Marnie (Paul) Scheirick; grandson, Stuart Wiber; daughter-in-law, Veera Wiber; four darling great grandchildren, Maddison and Montana Scheirick, Brando Annett, and Nya Dunseith. Also, surviving are her three dear sisters, Phyllis (Bill) Davis, Joyce Walsh, and Bernice Beatty; sisters-in-law, Dorothy (Dodie), and Barbara Bartlett; brother-in-law, Bert (Mary) Wiber; and many loved nieces and nephews. Pat was predeceased by her mother and father, Ethel and Samuel Bartlett; devoted husband of 61 years, Clarence (Lar); twin sons (at birth) Stanley and Clarence Jr.; beloved son, Donald; brothers, William (Bud), George, Harold, and Robert (Bob) Bartlett. Pat will be forever missed by all who loved her. We will take our memories and cherish them. Although she is gone in body, her memory lives on with each of us. At Pat’s request there will be no formal funeral. However, a family gathering to remember her life will be arranged at a later date. Her final resting place will be in the Burnsland Cemetery beside her husband Clarence and two sons, Stanley and Clarence Jr. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Pat may be made to the charity of the donor’s choice. We would like to extend a special thank you to her many caregivers during her last few years. You helped to make her final days easier to bear. In living memory of Pat Wiber, a tree will be planted at Fish Creek Provincial Park by McINNIS & HOLLOWAY FUNERAL HOMES, Crowfoot Chapel, 82 CROWFOOT CIRCLE N.W. Telephone: (403) 241-0044.
