Obituary of Slavko Divjak

Slavko (Jack) Divjak of Calgary passed away peacefully in the loving arms of his family at Chinook Hospice after a long, courageous battle with cancer on Monday, December 22, 2008 at the age of 89 years. Jack was born in Mihovljan, Croatia on September 21, 1919 and immigrated to Canada in 1956. He lived in Vancouver, BC for 20 years, marrying Maria Livic in 1957. Jack retired to Abbotsford, BC spending 25 years happily travelling North America in his motorhome. He moved to Calgary in 2001 to be closer to his grandchildren who meant the world to him. Jack loved dancing, wine making and the outdoors, especially fishing and hunting. Jack is loved deeply and will be sadly missed by his daughter Branca, son-in-law Bruce; grandchildren Michael, Madison, Mikayla, Maclean and Miranda as well as extended family in Croatia. Relatives and friends are invited to Prayers and Tributes at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY’S Park Memorial Chapel (5008 Elbow Drive S.W.) on Friday, December 26, 2008 at 7:00 p.m. Funeral Mass will be Celebrated at St. Albert the Great Catholic Church, (10 Prestwick Drive S.E., Calgary) on Saturday, December 27, 2008 at 10:00 a.m. Graveside Service to follow at “Holy Family Cemetery”at Eden Brook Memorial Gardens Forward condolences through www.mcinnisandholloway.com.
