Obituary of Annette Marie Ruttle
It is with profound sadness that we announce that Annette (Anne) Marie Ruttle passed away on Sunday, December 21, 2008, with her family by her side.
Left to cherish her memory are her loving husband of 72 years, Ken Ruttle; her five daughters, Shirley (Don) Dyar, Georgina Ruttle, Sharon (Mel) Sly, Pam Armstrong (Brian Arcand), Patrice (Pat) O’Brien; six grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; her two sisters, Edna Groft and Ruby Rataushk; her sister-in-law Edith Fletcher; niece Cheryl Scarlett; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Anne was born in Calgary on August 5, 1915, but grew up in Saskatchewan and Medicine Hat. As a young woman, she came to work in Calgary, and there met and married the love of her life, Ken. Anne had a brilliant mind and excelled at everything she did. She made her husband and children a priority and centred her life around her home, as family was everything to her.
“A capable wife who can find? She is more precious than jewels. The heart of her husband trusts in her, and he will have no lack of gain.”
We treasure her and we are poorer for her leaving. She was kindness itself and family and friends benefited from her generosity of spirit. No matter what adversity came her way, she met it with courage, strength, and hope. She had a deep and abiding faith in God. Anne was a lifetime member of the Pythian Sisters, joining in 1945 and serving in many leadership roles of the organization, locally, nationally, and internationally. The family is grateful for the kind and compassionate care she received from Dr. David Hogan and the staffs of Trinity Lodge, Carewest Sarcee, and Unit 56 of the Rockyview General Hospital. She will live forever in our hearts and memories because of the legacy of love that she built. If friends so desire, memorial donations may be made to a charity of their choice. Anne loved all kinds of flowers! Forward condolences through www.mcinnisandholloway.com.
A Celebration of Anne’s Life will be held at St. Matthew’s United Church (2039 – 26A Street S.W.) on Friday, December 26, 2008 at 11:00 a.m.
