Obituary of Michael Procyk
Michael Procyk, beloved husband of sixty years to Josephine of Calgary, passed away on Tuesday, December 16, 2008 at the age of 80 years.
Michael was born in Poland and came to Canada as an infant in 1930 to Royal Park (near Mundare, AB) and was raised in that area where, in grade three, he met Josephine Siracky. They were married on October 26, 1948.
A plasterer by trade, Michael lived in Edmonton before moving to Brooklyn, New York in 1964 to help construct the original Trump Village. Later he was employed with the Brighton Laundry in Brighton Beach, Brooklyn. They moved to Calgary in 1973 where the family has resided since. Michael was employed as a driver and supervisor for Canadian Linen Supply until his retirement in 1990. After retirement, he enjoyed travel and sun worshipping. His pride and joy were his grandchildren, who called him “Dido” and the “most awesome grandpa.”
Besides his loving wife Josephine, Michael is also survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Lorne and Gail of Edmonton, Don and Charlotte of Calgary; one daughter and son-in-law, Michelle and Mike Maucieri of Calgary; four grandsons, who were his angels, Christian (Penny), Adam (Nikki), Christopher, and Alex; one brother Bill of Prince Albert, SK; one sister and brother-in-law, Jean and Andy Wallace of Surrey, BC; and sister-in-law Lorraine of Edmonton. Michael was predeceased by his brother John.
