Allan Kerr

Obituary of Allan Nathan Kerr

With heavy hearts we announce the death of Allan Nathan Kerr, beloved husband of Naomi, on Wednesday, December 17, 2008 after a brief illness. Allan was a devoted husband, loving father and doting grandfather. He was a native Calgarian who loved spectator sports, and cheered on his Stampeders right to the end. A love of theatre and music was a constant passion throughout his life. He performed in many plays for Calgary’s early amateur theatre companies, most notably as Fagan in ‘Oliver’, and Nathan Detroit in ‘Guys & Dolls’. Even after he stopped performing, he remained an enthusiast, enjoying live events and listening to his favorite soundtracks and scores, singing and conducting along with the music. Allan’s family meant the world to him. He and his wife Buddy raised a strong and loving family, and Allan was at his happiest when the extra leaves were needed for the dining room table. Mourning his passing are his wife of 55 years Naomi (Buddy); children and grandchildren, Bev (Geoff Mayer); Jeff (Joyce) Lindsay, and Josh; Roberta (Dave Lapsley), Sarah Jane and Rachel; Laurie (Larry West), Emma and Annie; as well as by his brother Morley (Eta). Funeral Services will be held at Temple B’nai Tikvah, (900 – 47th Avenue South West) on Friday, December 19, 2008 at 12:00 P.M. Graveside Service to follow at the Jewish Cemetery (30th Avenue & Erlton Street South West.) Arrangements in care of the CHEVRA KADISHA OF CALGARY, North East Corner of Highway 22X & 37th Street S.W., Telephone: 244-4717.
