Obituary of Millicent Spring

The family of Olive Spring sadly announces her peaceful passing at the Colonel Belcher Care Centre on Saturday, December 13, 2008 at the age of 87 years. Born in England, Olive came to Canada as a war bride to join her husband, Maurice, whom she met in England during W.W. II. They met while she was serving with the British Forces and he was stationed there with the Lord Strathcona’s Horse (Royal Canadian) Regiment. Olive resided in Springbank for much of her life and there she raised her six daughters. She will be remembered as a wonderful mother and grandmother. Olive is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law, Christine and Peter, Germaine and Nigel, Brenda and David, Anita and Walter, Kim and Lyle, and Maurine. She is also survived by her grandchildren Rebecca (Scott), Katharine, Devin (Donna), Bryson, Rodney, Russell (Kelly), Mark (Malin), Ronnie (Renée), Jordan, Jessica (Robert), and Ben. Olive was especially proud of her great grandchildren Kora, Andrew, Charlotte, Corey, Tanner, Miles, Oliver, Jasmine, and Taylor. She is also survived by her dear sister-in-law Vivienne Connop (Richard), her niece Charmaine (Ken), and grandnephew Sterling. In addition, Olive leaves behind her beloved sister, Doris, and many nieces and nephews in England. She was predeceased by two infant granddaughters, Alanis and Jody, five brothers in England, and her former husband, Maurice Spring. Those wishing to pay their respects may do so at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY’S Park Memorial Chapel (5008 Elbow Drive S.W.) on Thursday, December 18, 2008 from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. A Celebration of Olive’s life will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY’S Park Memorial Chapel (5008 Elbow Drive S.W.) on Friday, December 19, 2008 at 2:30 p.m. Forward condolences through www.mcinnisandholloway.com. The family is especially grateful for the wonderful care and friendship that Olive received during her short time at Extendicare Cedars Villa and, for the past six months at the Colonel Belcher Care Centre. The sisters also acknowledge with love and admiration the care and companionship that their mother received from their youngest sister, Maurine. No daughter could have done more for a mother.
