Obituary of George Walter Bassek

We mourn the loss of our father and friend George Walter Bassek, who passed away on December 14, 2008 at the age of 64 years. George was born in Germany, moved to Edmonton as a youngster, and graduated from Bonnie Doon High School. After attending the University of Alberta and surveying across western Canada, he moved to southwest Calgary and started a family. He loved to talk about cars and to work on his ever evolving collection of vehicles. George loved music, gadgets, and reading everything he could get his hands on. We will greatly miss his wit, his guidance, and his vast knowledge of science, cars, and politics. The loss will be forever felt by his daughters and son-in-law; Quinn Bassek, Regan and Joel Klyn of Calgary; as well as his many friends in Canada, the United States, and extended family in Germany. He was predeceased by his brother Peter; and his parents Wolfgang and Dorothy.
