Obituary of Chizuno Ceo Kuwahara
Ceo Kuwahara treasured daughter and sister, much loved wife and mother, impish grandmother and great-grandmother slipped quietly away on the morning of Thursday, December 11, 2008 at the age of 85.
Ceo was born Chizuno Okabe on April 9, 1923 in Mission, B.C., the third of six children and first daughter of Denjiro and Taki Okabe. In 1946 she married Tom Kuwahara and made her home in Calgary. The forced move of the Okabe family to southern Alberta during World War II did not suppress her indomitable spirit. Her kitchen was always full of warmth and laughter, her garden filled with colour and light. She gave to her husband and four children patience, generosity and kindness. She wrapped her grandchildren in a blanket of security and love. She taught her children and grandchildren how to laugh and sing.
Ceo leaves behind husband Tom; daughters, Linda Callaghan, Arlene Kuwahara; son and daughter-in-law, Brian and Judy Kuwahara; daughter and son-in-law Cheryl and Sam Oshiro; grandchildren, Patrick, Miyoko, Sean, Ian, Tom, Steven, Jennifer, Stephanie and Kimberley; and great-grandchildren, Sofia, Chloe and Sadie. Ceo’s passing has left a hole in their universe.
Thanks to the staff at Cedar Villa Nursing Home for their care and kindness.
