Obituary of Gilbert Hugh McDonald
Gilbert (Gib) McDonald of Tsuu T’ina Nation passed away surrounded by his loving family at the Foothills Medical Centre, on Thursday, December 11, 2008 at the age of 75 years.
Gib was born in Calgary and raised in Fort McLeod and Tsuu T’ina Nation. Gib married his childhood sweetheart Mae in 1954. Gib had a great career with CN Rail lasting 41 years, retiring as a Switch Foreman. He will be fondly remembered for his stories, humour and the delicious meals that he prepared. He was a gifted, loving, strong and knowledgeable man that gave unconditional love, which touched everyone’s hearts. Gib was a true gentleman who always had a smile for anyone. He led an honest and faithful journey in life.
Gilbert is survived by children; son Nelson (Lise); two daughters Denise and Jeanine (Pinkee); six grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his brother; two sisters; brothers-in-law Arthur and Reggie; sister-in-law Agnes; the Beebe family and numerous nieces and nephews. Gilbert was predeceased by his loving wife Mae in 2006; parents-in-law Frank and Mary Onespot; sisters-in-law Lottie, Olive, Marjorie, Mariam, Evelyn and Lottie Onespot (nee McHugh). The family apologizes if they missed anyone.
Wake Services will be held at the residence of the late Mr. and Mrs. Gilbert McDonald, Tsuu T’ina Nation (2862 Wintergreen Road, Bragg Creek, AB) on Saturday, December 13, 2008 and Sunday, December 14, 2008.
Funeral Services will be held at St. Barnabas Anglican Church (Tsuu T’ina Nation) on Monday, December 15, 2008 at 1:00 p.m. Graveside Service to follow at Tsuu T’ina Cemetery (Tsuu T’ina Nation, AB). Forward condolences through www.mcinnisandholloway.com.
