Obituary of Helmer Johnson

Helmer Johnson passed away peacefully on Saturday, December 6, 2008, surrounded by family, at the Foothills Hospital, at the age of 89 years. Known for his gentle, kind and generous spirit, Helmer leaves behind many friends and family from the varied aspects of his full life. Helmer was a WWII veteran, a career military man, a public servant, an active member in his community in church work, square dancing, the Scandinavian Centre, the Legion and the Shriners. He also loved to travel with his family. Helmer was predeceased by his loving wife, Myrtle, and will be missed dearly by his children Ken (Judy) Johnson, Carol Johnson and Corinne (Dennis) Houston; his three grandsons, Darren, Kevin and Stuart Houston; as well as a number of nieces and nephews. A Memorial Service will be held at First Lutheran Church, Community of Joy (7102 – 14th Avenue S.W.) on Wednesday, December 10, 2008, at 11:00 a.m. Forward condolences through www.mcinnisandholloway.com.
