Obituary of Randall William Medicine Pipe Rider Axe

Randall Axe beloved husband of Sharon Running Rabbit of Siksika Nation, AB, passed away peacefully with his family by his side and went home to be with our Creator on Tuesday, November 25, 2008 at the age of 52 years. Randall was born on December 27, 1955 on the Siksika Nation Reserve. He was an active member of the Horn Society for fourteen years, as well as the Brave Dog Society for six years. Randall lived a very traditional life and he was a humble, respectable, kind hearted person who never turned anyone away from his home. He attended the Old Sun Residential school and in his younger days was in the Rodeo (Wild Horse Race). Randall joined the Horse Racing Circuit for eleven years with Tom Healy and was a rancher on the farm that he owned. Randall was the youngest player for the Siksika Buffalos and also played minor Hockey. He really enjoyed being outdoors, going hunting and also arts and crafts; such as: making drums, tee-pee pegs, backrests and other native crafts. Randall travelled to Hong Kong to market his crafts as an Entrepreneur. He was employed with the PFRA, the Siksika Elders Lodge, Agriculture, Housing and Public Works Departments. Randall leaves behind to mourn, his loving wife of eighteen years Sharon Running Rabbit; only daughter, Rhondelle; grandchildren, Taniya, Allister and Keira; stepchildren, Cynthia (Randall), Dwayne (Tammy), Leslie (Tisah) and Sherri (Jaylon); six step-grandchildren and five great-grandchildren; siblings, Roanna, Donna (Gerald), Jenny (Donnie), Jordan (Charlene), Kenny (Louise), Elizabeth(Alvin); special friend, Stewart Breaker; adoptive brothers, Robin Big Snake, Curtis Big Snake, Fred Breaker, Al Hornberger; adoptive parents, Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Big Snake, Mr. and Mrs. Harold Wright and Tom Healy; adoptive mother, Mary Lillian Cutter; uncles, Ed Turning Robe, George Cardinal, Clifford Big Eye, Claude Crow, Robert (Bonnie) Wolf Leg; special auntie, Ruby Doore; aunties, Alice Weasel Child, Florence Back Fat, Ruth Majoris, Evelyn Brass, Donna-Jean Raw Eater; also the Crow Chief family and as well as numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. He is also survived by his extended families, Turning Robe, Doore, Brass, Back Fat, Gros Ventre Boy, Curly Rider, Breaker, Stimson, Crow, Many Guns, Medicine Shield, Black Horse, Many Heads, Crowfoot, Wright, Spotted Eagle, Raw Eater, Red Gun, Rabbits, Owl Child and Stevens. Randall was predeceased by his grandfather, Edward Little Axe; parents, Mr and Mrs. Francis Axe Sr.; brothers, Andy, Robert and Francis; sisters, Pauline and Priscilla; aunties, Beatrice Turning Robe and Ada Breaker; uncles, Leonard and Benny Black Horse and Peter Axe and nephews, Amos and Stanley. The family apologizes for anyone they may have missed. Wake Services will be held at the Bridge Community Centre (Siksika Nation, AB) on Tuesday, December 2, 2008 at 6:00 p.m. Funeral Services will be held at Bridge Community Centre (Siksika Nation, AB) on Wednesday, December 3, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. Graveside Service to follow at Ninaimskohkitopi – Medicine Pipe Rider Cemetery (Siksika Nation, AB).
