Obituary of Albertus Teuling
Al Teuling beloved husband of Viola passed away on Wednesday, November 26, 2008 at the age of 73 years.
Al was born in Almkerk, The Netherlands, on November 17, 1935. As a young twelve year old boy, he immigrated to Canada in 1948 with his family. Al worked on the family farm in Picture Butte until he made the move to Calgary in 1951. It was here he met his wife Sylvia and started his family. Al worked for the City Of Calgary Transit for over thirty years. He remarried in 1997 to Viola and welcomed his new extended family. During his lifetime, he embraced the brethren of the Masonic Order. Since 1977, Al held various offices including; Master of Calgary Lodge 1984, District Deputy Grand Master of District 6 1986-87, Manager of Calgary Masonic Temple 1998 to the present date. Al was an extremely passionate, dedicated Mason and enjoyed the fellowship of the craft until his passing. The highlight of his Masonic Career was the raising of his son Michael to the rank of Master Mason in 2005.
Besides his loving wife Viola; Al is survived by his children, Glenn and his wife Heather, Allan and Brenda, Michael and his wife Dawn, Nada Ceklic, Lora and her husband Mark Hamilton and Nik and his wife Dana Ceklic; grandchildren, Clifford, Greggory, Brooklyne, Adam, Luke and Ned; his brother Jake and wife Tonia; sisters, Betty and her husband Pete Sybrandy and Carol and her husband Bill Hengst; as well as numerous extended family. He will be missed by the brethren of the Masonic Lodge and concordant lodges. Al was predeceased by his first wife Sylvia Doreen and his parents Grietje and Jan Gerrit Teuling.
A Memorial Service will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY’S Park Memorial Chapel (5008 Elbow Drive S.W.) on Wednesday, December 3, 2008 at 10:30 a.m. Forward condolences through www.mcinnisandholloway.com. The family would like to thank Agape Hospice, their wonderful staff, and especially Dr. Jeremy deBruyn for the special care and attention given to Al over the last few weeks.
