Isabel Cooper

Obituary of Isabel Cooper

Isabel Cooper passed away on Monday, November 24, 2008 after a brief illness. Isabel was born in Edmonton but grew up on her parent’s homestead near Kirriemuir, AB. Her Kirriemuir days remained close to her heart, even after building a house in 1946 in Calgary and raising a family in Tuxedo, where she remained until she became a resident at the Brentwood Care Centre. Isabel and Jack were charter members of the Hi-Land Swingers Square Dance Club. She was also a volunteer for many years with the Meals on Wheels program. She loved her family and was well known for her cooking, hospitality, generosity, and garden. Her last years were not easy but being the lady she was, she managed through without complaining. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her. Isabel is survived by her brother Tom (June) Mitchell of Vernon, BC; her children, Patricia (Clayton) Jensen of Calgary and Douglas (Kelly) Cooper of Vancouver; grandchildren, Neal Jensen and daughter Aleksia Jensen, Scott (Leah) Jensen and daughter Isabel Jensen, Liam Cooper, Daniel Cooper, and Jill Cooper. Isabel was predeceased by her husband, Herbert John (Jack) Cooper, in 2003; her brother Fred Mitchell; and sisters, Jean Wilson and Patricia Mitchell. A Memorial Service will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY’S Chapel of the Bells (2720 Centre Street North) on Friday, November 28, 2008 at 2:30 p.m. Forward condolences through www.mcinnisandholloway.com.
