Obituary of Thomas Reed
Thomas Patrick Reed beloved husband of Leigh Ann and devoted father of Lelland and Gerald passed away on Thursday, November 20, 2008 after a courageous struggle with ALS at the age of 50 years.
Tom was born in Regina, moved to Calgary as a young teen and graduated from Dr. E.P. Scarlett High School. He was well respected in the construction industry in Calgary and had a long term career with Ledcor Industries Construction Division. Tom was a keen hockey player from the time he learned to skate until ALS sidelined him two years ago. Tom was also an avid golfer, an accomplished skier and a master of water sports at the Reed’s retreat at Adventure Bay on Okanagan Lake.
He is survived by his parents Vincent and Patricia Reed; his brother and best friend David (Datsie); and his sister Kathryn. He will be sadly missed by his in-laws Gayle and Tommy Calder; the McClelland and Hutchinson families; and his many friends and extended family from Calgary and afar.
A Memorial Service will be held at McDougall United Church (8516 Athabasca Street S.E.) on Wednesday, November 26, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. Forward condolences through www.mcinnisandholloway.com. The family wishes to express appreciation to Joel McClelland, Judy Grant and to Jane Rivest of the ALS Society for their compassionate support throughout Tom’s illness.
