Obituary of Valerie Dubauskas
Valerie Dubauskas (nee Sveikauskaite) beloved wife of the late Juozas Dubauskas of Calgary, died peacefully with family at her side on Monday, November 17, 2008 at the age of 96 years.
Valerie was born in Latvia and immigrated to Canada in 1949, with her husband and four children. She lived a healthy, full and active life. Valerie enjoyed gardening and travel. She started the first Calgary Lithuanian school in her home. Valerie was an active CWL church member. She was also an active member of the Calgary Lithuanian Community. Valerie volunteered at the Dr. Vernon Fanning Centre, Carewest and the Canadian National Institute for the Blind.
Valerie is survived by three children, Tony (Judy) Dubauskas of Victoria, BC, Rutelle (Barry) Bembridge of Harrison Mills, BC, and Vitus (Dorothy) Dubauskas of Calgary, BC; six grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren. Valerie was predeceased by her husband Juozas (1970); son Kes Dubauskas (2004); daughter-in-law Joan (2005); and eleven brothers and sisters.
Relatives and friends are invited to Prayers at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY’S Chapel of the Bells (2720 Centre Street North) on Thursday, November 20, 2008 at 7:00 p.m. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church (400 Edmonton Trail N.E.) on Friday, November 21, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. Forward condolences through www.mcinnisandholloway.com.
