Obituary of Diane Allan

We mourn the loss of our dear Mom and friend Diane Allan, who passed away on Monday, November 17, 2008 at the age of 67 years. Diane was born in Saskatoon, moved to Calgary as a teen, and graduated from Viscount Bennet, going on to graduate as a nurse with the HtH class of 1963. From an early age it was evident Diane had a gift for music. She loved to sing, play piano and dance. She was an active and dedicated member of the Knox United Church, singing with the choir for over 30 years. We will greatly miss her larger than life personality, her friendship, sense of humor and love of music. Though it is difficult to realize the fullness of her loss at this time, her life was brought to a beautiful close, passing peacefully with her daughters by her side and with the knowledge she would be reunited with her loved ones, especially her daughter Kelly. God’s amazing grace was weaved throughout her life even until death and we are humbled and in awe of his presence at this time. She loved her many life-long friends, ‘the bridge girls’, and her Holy Cross nursing ‘sisters at heart’. The loss will be forever felt by her daughters and sons-in-law; Kristina and Keevin Berg, Kara Lee and Michael Rodyniuk and Heather and Brad Berry; her nine adored grandchildren; Sophia, Kelsey, Kristian, Karl-Erik, Tyler, Micaylee, Ethan, Josh and Avery. She also leaves behind her precious sister Lynne Brenner and her children, Kelly and Scott and his wife Jahnavi; her beloved brother Bob Allan and his wife Stella, and their children R.W. and Amalie. Many thanks to everyone who made these last months more bearable, including the caring individuals on unit 61 at Foothills hospital. If friends so desire, memorial tributes may be made directly to the HHT Foundation of Canada at the HHT Research Fund, St. Michael’s Hospital, 30 Bond Street, Toronto, ON. M5B 1W8 Funeral Services will be held at Knox United Church (506-4th Street SW) on Monday, November 24, 2008 at 1:00 p.m. A Private Graveside Service to follow at a later date.
