Obituary of Les Watson
Les Watson, of Calgary, passed away peacefully on Thursday, November 13, 2008, surrounded by his family at the Rocky View General Hospital, at the age of 62 years.
Les was born on April 25, 1946 in Vancouver, BC. He attended the University of British Columbia, graduating with honours in geology. Les began working in the oil and gas industry in Calgary, enjoying a successful forty year career. The industry was his life’s passion, and Les loved the challenges and the colleagues he befriended over the years. He was revered by his staff as the “ultimate explorationist “. Les also loved the outdoors, and would spend countless hours, tending to his garden. He especially loved to be with his family, and his grandchildren. A loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather and friend, Les will be dearly missed by all those who knew him.
Les is survived by his loving wife, Carol. Son and daughter-in-law Cameron and Jennifer Watson; daughter and son-in-law Tiffany and David Gilbey; grandchildren, Alex (6) and Amelia (5) Watson and Abigail (1) Gilbey. Les is also survived by his mother, Phyllis Chester Watson; Sisters, Wendy (Roger) Sayer, Margaret (Jerry) Tregaskis and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his father, John Desmond Watson.
A Celebration of Les’s Life will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY’S Park Memorial Chapel (5008 Elbow Drive S.W.) on Monday, November 17, 2008 at 10:30 a.m. with a reception to follow.
