Obituary of Mabel Joan Rudy

Joan Rudy beloved wife and best friend of Harry Rudy of Calgary passed away after a courageous battle with multiple myeloma on Monday, November 10, 2008 at the age of 74 years. Along with her loving husband of fifty-one years, Joan is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Brad and Anne of Stratford, ON and Blair and Carol of Calgary; five grandchildren, Rob, Jack and Emma of Stratford, and Matthew and Mitchell of Calgary. She is survived by a brother and sister-in-law, Jerry and Sylvia Flecknor of Virden, MB; as well as sisters-in-law Jean Gilson and Barb Davies, both of Winnipeg, MB, and Marg Flecknor, of Calgary. Her memory will be cherished by her nieces and nephews, Stuart (Susan), Garth (Heather), David (Terri) and Brian; Shari (Derry), Kim (Todd), Doug, Chris (Heather-Marie) and Jodi (Rod); Randy (Tierre), Corey (Marcie) and Michelle (Jeff) and their families. Joan was predeceased by her brother, Jim (Bette) Flecknor and brother-in-law Clay Gilson. Joan’s faith was a very important part of her life including such church activities as Altar Guild and her dedication with helping seniors. Her many hobbies included knitting and quilting, reading, traveling with Harry and playing board games with her family and friends. One of her many pleasures was interacting with all of the children in her life. A Memorial Service will be held at Holy Cross Anglican Church (2828 – 19th Street N.W.) on Sunday, November 16, 2008 at 2:30 p.m. with the Rev. Deborah Rivet presiding.
