Obituary of Walter William James Winter
Walter Winter beloved Husband of Bernice of Calgary, passed away peacefully with his family at his side, at Chinook Care Centre Hospice on Monday, November 10, 2008 at the age of 84 years.
Walter was born in Winnipeg, MB. He Enlisted with the Royal Canadian Air Force, as a Wireless Operator at age seventeen. He started a new career in sales that took him to Regina, where he met his wife Bernice, had their four children and started his illustrious 40 year career with Domtar Chemicals / Sifto Salt. After 8 years in Winnipeg, Walter was transferred with his family to Calgary in 1972. Walter had a passion for the Calgary Flames and spent much of his time gardening, reading, traveling and supporting his children’s interests.
Walter is lovingly remembered by his children; Karen McMullan, Ross (Kimberly) Winter, Craig Winter (Gerri), and Darrell Winter; grandchildren, Ryan, Kyle, Brendan, and Austen; brother Cec (Vicky) Winter; sister Sigrid (Bob) Brown; and numerous family, friends and loved ones. Walter is predeceased by his parents, Walter and Martha Winter; step-mother Lydia Winter; sister Lillian Burns; and niece Cathy Lindsay.
