Obituary of Mary Elizabeth Fenton

Mary Elizabeth Fenton of Cochrane, passed away on November 7, 2008 at the age of 91 years. Mary was born in Crossfield, AB and along with her parents moved five miles northeast of Cochrane in 1920 and farmed on a three quarter section on land. She took all her schooling in Cochrane staying with her grandmother, Mary Hughes five days a week. After leaving school she met and married Earl Fenton and together they farmed and raised two sons and a daughter. Mary was fairly active in the community, being secretary for Weedon Pioneer Association for over eleven years. She then joined the Lockend Ladies Club. In 1988 she and Earl moved to Cochrane and continued to go to club meetings. She enjoyed being with people. Mary is survived by her two sons, Ron and Dennis and her daughter and son-in-law, Linda and Raymond Graff; nine grandchildren; and twenty great grandchildren. She is also survived by two brothers and sisters-in-law, Gordon and Dolly Callaway and Clarence and Lou Callaway; her sister Jean Copithorne; and sisters-in-law, Lou Beattle and Bell Fenton, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Mary was predeceased by her husband Earl Fenton on December 12, 2001. Funeral Services will be held St. Andrew’s United Church (128 – 1st Street East, Cochrane, AB) on Thursday, November 13, 2008 at 11:00 am.
