Obituary of Phyllis Oma McDiarmid
Phyllis passed away peacefully in her sleep at Southwood Hospice Wednesday, November 5, 2008 at the age of 79 years.
Phyllis was born in Vulcan Alberta December 1, 1928. Friendship was the bedrock upon which Phyllis built her life and she valued her friends and family above all else. Phyllis had a full and varied work career that took her from Edmonton and Calgary to Toronto and London England and included everything from general insurance to public relations and television. Her recreation and personal interests comprised such things as costumes for musical shows and the Olympics, Daughters of the Nile and Shrine club activities. Her independent spirit and sparkling sense of humour will be missed by her many friends that literally span the globe.
She is survived by her brother Wally (June) McCray; her step-children, Linda (Jim) Barrette, Peter (Martha) McDiarmid, Susan (Brian) Kinder; and their sons and daughters, Craig, Mark, Melissa, Sara and Diana; her niece and nephew Linda (Neil) Stokes and Michael (Brenda) McCray; her cousin Lorraine; and her great nieces and nephews Mitchell, Vivienne, Suzanne and James. Phyllis was pre-deceased by her beloved husband Donald in 1993.
A Celebration of Phyllis’s life will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY’S Park Memorial Chapel (5008 Elbow Drive S.W.) on Saturday, November 15, 2008 at 1:00 p.m. Forward condolences through www.mcinnisandholloway.com.
