Obituary of Robert Lott Kirkby

Bob Kirkby of Calgary passed away on November 3, 2008 at the age of 88 years. Bob was born in Calgary on April 26, 1920. He enlisted with the Royal Canadian Air Force in 1939 and served his country overseas during WWII. During the war years, Bob met Margaret McGrath in St. Johns, NFLD and they were married on June 22, 1942. Bob’s career with the Air Force enabled then to live in many locations throughout North America. They settled in Calgary in 1969 where Bob began a new career in Real Estate appraisal for the next twenty-five years. Bob’s life long passion was ham radio and he enjoyed golfing with family and friends. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather who was especially proud of his children and their accomplishments. Bob is survived by his son and daughter-in-law Bob Kirkby and Louise Nesterenko; daughter and son-in-law Iris and Gary Hungle; four grandchildren, Keith, Taunya, Garett and Meghan; four step-grandchildren, Shawn, Natalie, Walter and Nick; seven great-grandchildren; several extended family; as well as his nieces, Robyn and Pam and nephews Frank, Bill and Brian. He was predeceased by his wife Margaret in 2006, His parents, Raymond and Ivy, his brother Ray and his sister Frieda.
