Obituary of Bernice Mary LaBuc

Bernice LaBuc beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away on Friday, October 31, 2008 at the age of 72 years after a courageous battle with cancer. Bernice was born in Calgary where she was educated and lived her entire life. In 1953, she married her childhood sweetheart and best friend, Don LaBuc. They later bought a house in the community of Fairview where they lived and raised their family until Don’s passing in 1992. Bernice later moved to Legacy Estates in Somerset, where she lived for five years enjoying the many close friends she made there. Bernice loved to sing and was a member of the Somerset Songbirds. The choir was a great love of Bernice’s and it gave her soul a voice. Bernice started and was Queen of a local Red Hat Society Chapter, “The Calgary Cowgirls with Hatitude”. Bernice loved to travel and was able to do so with her two best friends and fellow “Musketeers”, Isabelle and Louise. They enjoyed many adventures together including numerous cruises to Alaska and most recently, a cruise to the Mexican Riviera. Bernice had a great love for family, friends, Disneyland, The Calgary Stampede, and her favorite TV shows. Her warmth and genuine kindness touched everyone she met and she will be sadly missed by all who knew her. Bernice is survived by her two daughters and son-in-law, Patti Bittner and Tracy (Rick) Lavoie; two grandsons, Kyle (Andrea) Bittner, and Colin Bittner; as well as by the newest love of her live, her great-grandson Lucas Donald Bittner.
