Obituary of Ronald James Walters

Ronald Walters passed away with his family by his side on Wednesday, October 22, 2008 at the age of 77 years after a short battle with lung cancer. Ron grew up in the Parkhill District where he was born and raised. He spent a lot of time playing hockey. Ron married Norma in 1953, and they recently celebrated fifty-five years together. In 1986, he retired as a mechanic from the Calgary Transit System. After retiring, he enjoyed fishing, camping with the family, working on his trailer, boat and in his yard. Ron will be greatly missed by his loving wife Norma; sons, Alan of Surrey, BC, and Bob (Linda) and their daughters, Jacquelyn, Christine, and Lindsey; daughter Vicki Wren (Keith); and their children, Branden, Tyler, Ashley, Erik and Adam all of Calgary. He is also survived by his brother Fred Walters (Ruth) of Bend, Oregon. His sisters, Norma Andersen (Al) of Qualicum Beach, BC; and Sherry Kathol (Conrad) of Calgary, as well as various nieces and nephews. Ron was predeceased by his parents Irene and Sidney Walters. The family would like to express their thanks to the doctors and nurses at the Tom Baker Cancer Clinic and the Foothills Hospital.
