Obituary of Lorene Frances Simeon

Lorene (Loretta) Frances Simeon, “Tung-ay”, as she was affectionately known by those closest to her, was called peacefully home to our Creator on October 16, 2008 at the age of 37 years. Loretta was born on June 26, 1971 in Banff, AB and raised on the Stoney Reserve. Loretta had a pleasant, gracious and loyal personality. She was full of laughter and humour. Loretta maintained her aboriginal spirituality and optimistic attitude regardless of her personal life adversities. Her smiling face and her unbelievable sense of humour will be sadly missed by all. Loretta will be sorrowfully missed; and lovingly remembered by her cherished children, Winston and Loretta Jr. She is also survived by her grandson Memo; her brothers Kevin (Pennie), Darcy (Paula), and Jason Kaquitts, Kerry (Jolene), Kyle, Colten, Alex and Royce Simeon and Shawn Poucette; her sisters Janine, Kayla and Lexie Simeon and Lori Kootenay (Larry); maternal aunts Beverly Simeon, Erica Stephens (Roy); paternal aunts Mary (Clarence) Lefthand, Jackie Wildman, Nelda and Sylvia (Gordon) Bigstoney; maternal uncles Gordon (Virginia) Wildman, and Richard Kaquitts (Joyce); uncles Marvin Bigstoney, Mandrick and Cronan Snow; maternal grandfather Earl Wildman; maternal grandmothers Edna and Doreen Simeon and Alice Kaquitts (Tom); companion Rob; as well as numerous cousins, nephews, nieces and all her friends from all over. Loretta is predeceased by her mother Darlene Simeon in 1978; her father James Kaquitts in 1992; maternal grandmother May Simeon in 1991; paternal grandparents Tom (1985) and Bella (1986) Kaquitts; aunt Joanne Poucette in 1991; uncles Cameron (1978) and Laurel (1976) Simeon and Lloyd Bigstoney (1995); Brothers Darryle (2001), Laurel (2007) Simeon and Matthew Aberdeen (1992). The family apologize if anyone was missed. Wake Services will be held at the residence of Erica Stephens (Morley, AB) on Sunday, October 19 and Monday, October 20, 2008. Funeral Services will be held at Morley United Church (Morley, AB) on Tuesday October 21, 2008 at 12 noon. Graveside Service to follow at Chiniki Cemetery (Morley, AB).
