Obituary of Margaret Jane Lancaster

With great sadness we announce the passing of our Aunty Margaret. She passed away peacefully following a brief illness on Monday, October 6, 2008 at the age of 82 years. Margaret was born in Thirsk, Yorkshire, England and immigrated to Canada at the age of 22. She spent the majority of her career with the Salvation Army caring for orphans and the elderly. Margaret loved to travel and traveled the world extensively until ten years ago. Her home videos were evidence of Margaret’s enjoyment of the world around her. Margaret is survived by her nieces, Jennifer Rattigan, Margaret (Mark) Taylor, Janet (Fred) Bowes, Helen (Michael) Lewis, Andrea (Dennis) Zahn, and Deborah (Steve) Lane; nephews, Doug (Tamara) Steinbach, Bill (Jean) Colton, and Chris (Ellie) Colton. She is also survived by nineteen great nieces and nephews and eight great great nieces and nephews. Margaret was predeceased by her parents Bill and Agnes Lancaster; brother George Lancaster; two sisters, Mynn Steinbach and Nancy Colton; two nephews, Patrick Colton and Bruce Steinbach; and one niece Ashley Zahn. Funeral Services will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY’S Chapel of the Bells (2720 Centre Street North) on Saturday, October 11, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. Graveside Service to follow at Queen’s Park Cemetery.
