Obituary of Cornelius Hendricus Wobma
It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our dear father Cor Wobma who passed away peacefully surrounded by his family at the Foothills Hospital on October 2, 2008 of natural causes at the age of 76.
Cor was born on August 29, 1932 in the Netherlands and in his twenties he moved to Calgary, where he lived for the rest of his life. Cor loved Holland and often traveled there to visit with family and friends. Dad had a love for life, loved to play cards, was an avid sports fan, and would love to talk about his favourite sports; soccer, hockey, football. Family meant everything to him; he was a doting husband, a loving father to his children, a wonderful and caring Opa to his four grandchildren, and a beloved uncle. He had a heart of gold and we were all blessed to have had him in our lives. He will be lovingly remembered by all that knew him and will be so deeply missed.
Cor is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Antoinette; son Paul (Cheryl) and their children, Holly & Kendra; daughter Margie (Lonnie) and their son Thomas, daughter Janie and her son, Matthew; brother Franz (Betty) in Australia; as well as many nieces and nephews, and extended family and friends in the Netherlands. He was predeceased by his parents and 12 brothers and sisters.
A Private Family Service will be held. Forward condolences through www.mcinnisandholloway.com. If friends so desire, memorial tributes may be made directly to the Heart & Stroke Foundation of Alberta, 200, 119 – 14th Street N.W., Calgary, AB T2N 1Z6 Telephone: (403) 264-5549, www.heartandstroke.ca.
