Obituary of Phyllis Ruth Shergold
Ruth Shergold of Calgary passed away peacefully on Thursday, October 2, 2008 at the age of 82 years.
Ruth was born on August 18, 1926 in Vancouver, BC. Graduating from the Vancouver General School of Nursing in 1950, she continued her nursing career at the same hospital for thirty-five years until disabled by rheumatoid arthritis. A life-long member of the Salvation Army, active in the Scouting movement and serving on their national training team, she is a recipient of the Silver Acorn Award. Ruth moved to Calgary in 2000 to live with her sister and brother-in-law, Bette and Jim Watt. Ruth will also be missed by her Aunt Winnie Reed; cousin Estelle (Keith) Simons; nieces and nephews, Marilyn (Clyde) Alexander, Janice (Robert) Brooks, Stanley (Tsitsi) Watt and their children; especially great nephews William, Julian and Jamie; as well as by the many charities she supported.
A Memorial Service will be held at the Salvation Army Berkshire Citaldel (222 Sandarac Drive N.W., Calgary, AB T3K 3M5) on Friday, October 10, 2008 at 10:30 a.m. Forward condolences through www.mcinnisandholloway.com. Graveside Service to follow at Queen’s Park Cemetery. If friends so desire, memorial tributes may be made directly to the Salvation Army Berkshire Citadel.
