Obituary of Beatrice Louise Phillips

After a short, but heroic battle with cancer, Bea left this world surrounded by her family to rest in the hands of our Heavenly Father. Bea is survived by her loving husband George; daughter Deb (Dean); son Blaine (Tracy) and her grandchildren (Amy, Erin and Dean). Bea was predeceased by her parents Louise and Bruce Downey, and her sisters Lorraine, Isobel and Eldean, as well as her stillborn daughter Mary. Bea will be fondly remembered as a loving and precious wife, devoted mother and grandmother, and an amazing person to a host of dear relatives, numerous nieces and nephews, and friends. Bea cultivated many wonderful friendships, especially with her dear friends Mary and Al, as well as countless of generous friends at Grand Beach, MB. Bea loved spending her summers at Grand Beach enjoying the company of family and friends. She was an avid card player, enjoyed bowling, loved cooking, and after retirement travelled with her husband to Corpus Christie, TX area for winter vacations. Bea was a warm hearted, kind private person who had an amazing sense of humour. Bea will be forever remembered with much love in the hearts and thoughts of family and friends as she taught us to live our lives in a truly loving and humanitarian manner. A private family Memorial Service was held Thursday, September 18, 2008. If family and friends so desire, in lieu of flowers, memorial tributes in Bea’s memory may be made directly to the Tom Baker Cancer Centre, 1331 – 29 Street N.W., Calgary, AB T2N 4N2. The family wishes to extend a heartfelt thank you to the staff at Unit 47 at the Tom Baker Centre and Southwood Care Centre who provided much comfort and care to Bea during her stay at each of these facilities.
