Obituary of Margaret Lopes

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our mother, Margaret Mary Lopes (nee Dias), of Calgary, on Friday, September 12, 2008 after a short and courageous battle with cancer at the age of 70 years. Margaret was born on June 14, 1938 in Georgetown, British Guiana. In 1984 she moved and made her home in Calgary, AB, Canada. She will be remembered for opening her heart and home to care for generations of children, for her beautiful crafts and wonderful baking. Thank you Mum for enriching our lives, minds and spirits. You will be in our hearts forever. Margaret will be lovingly remembered by her children, Suzanne (Antonio) Brazao, Kimberley (Derek) Vieira, Michael (Tracy) Lopes, Gerri (Ibrahim) Benis, Nicola (Andrew) Smart, and Aneleise (Kingsley) Brown. She will also be missed by her darling grandchildren, Aiyana (Stephen) Kowal, Jessica, Dylan, Julia and Patrick Vieira, Shane, Farahnaz, Christopher and Andrew Benis, Krystin and Tanya Smart and Nicholas and Jordan Lopes.
