Obituary of Robert Bob Guy Wooden
Bob Wooden passed away peacefully at Extendicare Hillcrest on Saturday, August 23, 2008 at the age of 79 years, following a seven year illness with Alzheimer disease while his family was in France for the marriage of his granddaughter, Amanda. He died on her wedding day.
In November 1992, Bob retired from Dairyland, having spent forty-five years in the dairy industry with Union Milk, Silverwoods, Alpha Milk and Dairyland, the result of subsequent takeovers. He was a Life Member of Foothills Nordic Ski Club and Pioneer Acres and an Honourary Member of the Calgary Guild of Needle and Fibre Arts for the many years he helped as a “Guild Husband.”
Bob leaves to mourn his wife Marion (nee Schnee) of fifty-eight years; his sons, Darrell of Enderby, BC and Alan of Calgary; his daughter-in-law Donna of Enderby; and his two granddaughters, Amanda and her husband Sebastien Papailhau of Rennes, France and Kelsie of Enderby. He was predeceased by all his siblings, Glen, George, Ralph and Grace, but will be fondly remembered by numerous nieces and nephews. He will be remembered by Marion’s siblings, Neil, Theda, Alice, Dale, Merle, Harold, Harvey and their families.
A Celebration of Bob’s Life will be held at Thornview Seniors Centre (5600 Centre Street North) on Sunday, September 14, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. Forward condolences through www.mcinnisandholloway.com. The family would like to thank all of the staff on the second floor of Extendicare Hillcrest for the loving care they gave him over the last five years.
