Obituary of Marguerite Phyllis Duguid
Marguerite Duguid, beloved wife of Scot Duguid of Calgary, passed away on Tuesday, September 9, 2008 at the age of 87 years.
Marguerite was born and educated in Moosomin, SK. She met Scot in Brandon, MB and they were married in 1944; they recently celebrated their sixty-fourth wedding anniversary. Marguerite and Scot established a successful music business and worked side by side at Scot’s Music Centre Ltd. for thirty-four years. They enjoyed travelling, especially cruising and loved playing bridge. Marguerite was a Past Worthy Matron of Bow Valley Chapter 5, Order of the Eastern Star, past Governor of the Western Canada Region of Soroptimist International, past president of Gyrettes, and a member of Southwood United Church. Marguerite loved her family and friends deeply; she was a very gracious lady who touched many lives with her kind, calm and generous nature. She was a source of strength for all her family and could heal everything from a bruised knee to a broken heart.
She is survived by her much loved and loving husband, Scot; daughter Marni Angus, of Toronto, ON; and son, Carle (Liz) Duguid of Calgary; five grandchildren, Kirsti, Scot, and Lauri Angus, Christopher (Julie) Duguid, and Jennifer (Cam) Duguid; three great-granddaughters, Cassandra, Charlotte and Lily; sister Jean Rasmussen of Winnipeg, MB; brother Gerry Smith of Ancaster; and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her sister Patricia Soloman. Marguerite will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
A Celebration of Marguerite’s Life will be held at Southwood United Church (10690 Elbow Drive S.W.) on Saturday, September 13, 2008 at 10:30 a.m. Forward condolences through www.mcinnisandholloway.com.
